Troubleshooting Blinking Lights on an HP Deskjet D4260

HP's Deskjet D4260 printer offline is compatible with Windows and Mac computers. Under ordinary conditions, you rarely need to use any of the buttons onto your Deskjet D4260's control panel. But when the printer offline  encounters difficulty, at least one, and sometimes two lights, can blink on and off to let users know that the machine needs assistance. A number of the issues that cause these lights to flash are easily remedied using basic troubleshooting which makes use of some of those functions and buttons on the controller panel.

The green Power light on the left side of the Deskjet D4260 control panel remains strong and illuminated. But when you ship a new task to the printer from a computer, the Power light will blink on and off for a couple of short moments. The Power light yields to a solid state after the printer offline has received all electronic information in the computer. Some users may have not noticed this blinking Power light because the printer offline is positioned too far off from the computer; this is not a indication of trouble. Also, if the printer offline  is not processing any files, or is idle, then you can press the Power button once to switch off the printer. This turns off the Ability light.

Resume Light: Paper Issues

The Resume lighting is on the ideal side of the control panel. The icon in the button looks like an arrow pointing downward. The Resume light flashes red when the Deskjet D4260 fails to process the print job. One problem is that the printer has run out of paperadd more paper into the tray and then press the"Resume" button. Should you suspect a paper jam, press the"Resume" button to find out whether the printer willautomatically clear the obstruction; if it does not you might have to power down the printer offline  and search for paper jams in the rear access door.

The entire printer can input a stalled state, causing the Resume light to blink. First check for broken components by opening the top doorcontact HP for service and support when there is mechanical damage. When there's absolutely no damage, eliminate paper from the tray and then close the door. Unplug the printer's power cord for 30 minutes. Plug it back in and press the"Power" button. Add back paper into the tray. This is a tough reset which can sometimes remedy stalling on the Deskjet D4260.

Power and Resume Lights

The Electricity and Resume lights may blink simultaneously, for motives that HP doesn't clearly explain in supporting guides and documents as of December 2011. Nonetheless, the company does offer a remedy that simply involves restarting the printer. Press the"Power" button to turn off the Deskjet D4260. Press the"Power" button, again, to restart the printerand this should cancel the flashing lights. Unplug the power cord. Twist the cable back in. Press the"Power" button along with the blinking lights ought to cease.

Printer Cartridge Status Lights

Deskjet D4260 owners have to execute a test to deduce which of their printer cartridges needs troubleshooting. On the control panel the left status light flashes for the tri-color cartridge and the ideal status light flashes to your black/photo cartridge. Begin troubleshooting by raising the printer offlinecover and removing the cartridge onto the right. Reduce the cover. Have a look at the cartridge status lights on the controller panel. If the light is off, the issue is with the cartridge which has been removed. When the light flashes, open the cover and reinsert the cartridge which has been eliminated from the ideal side, then remove the cartridge onto the other hand. Clean the problematic printer cartridge aluminum contacts with a cotton swab and distilled water; avoid wiping the ink nozzles onto the cartridge. When the light continues to flash, then obtain a new cartridge. Check with the operator's manual to learn about additional troubleshooting that worries proper cartridge installation and flyer printing.
